Please Welcome Takahiro Izutani for Otakon 2020

Takahiro Izutani is a video game composer and guitarist. He has lent his expertise to soundtracks for games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Outside of games, he has collaborated with many artists on music and music videos, including Ayumi Hamasaki. In 2014, he joined Brave Wave Productions as a member and in 2017, he released his first solo album, Lingua Franca, under the artist name Dugo.

Please Welcome Harumi Fujita for Otakon 2020

Harumi Fujita was born in Osaka, Japan. After graduating from music school, she joined Osaka-based SNK in 1983, where she composed for Mad Crasher. She moved to Capcom shortly thereafter, where she worked on iconic franchises like Ghosts ’n Goblins, Bionic Commander, Chip ’n Dale, Final Fight and Mega Man 3. She became independent going into the 1990s, and worked on titles like Tomba!, PULSTAR and BLAZING STAR. More recently, she composed for Spidersaurs with WayForward. Today, Fujita enjoys travel and working on music for games and other media with her son, who is a mixing engineer.

Please Welcome Alexander Aniel for Otakon 2020

Alexander Aniel is the co-founder of Japanese music label Brave Wave Productions. Originally from San Francisco, he moved to Tokyo in 2007 partly out of a passion for games and travel. At Brave Wave, he assists artists such as Manami Matsumae, Harumi Fujita and Takahiro Izutani in getting connected with game developers around the world, and well as attending various international events such as High Score. Alex also works for Limited Run Games as Business Development Manager for Japanese developers/publishers.

Capital Area Budokai Interactive Workshop Sign Ups Open

Are you interested in participating in one of several exciting events hosted by Capital Area Budokai? If so, read on! Capital Area Budokai will be hosting 4 workshops at Otakon 2019. All 4 events will take place in Workshop 3 (WEWCC 146A) 

Friday, July 26, 2019 Saturday, July 27 2019
Session #1: Art of the Staff– 3:00pm-4:00pm 
Session #2: Art of the Sword -4:30-5:30pm 
Session #3: Japanese Fencing Seminar–8:00-9:00pm 
Session #4: Art of the Sword–9:30pm-10:30pm

 

While all are welcome to attend, participation in each session will be limited to participants selected via the Sign up form Here.  Participants must be 18 or older

Fruits Basket Seiyuu Meet-and-Greet at Otakon 2019

Three of the Japanese voice actors for the 2019 Fruits Basket anime will be attending Otakon 2019, and here’s your chance to meet them and get an item autographed!

Through a special arrangement with our partners at Funimation, 3 Japanese voice actors for Fruits Basket, Manaka Iwami (Tohru Honda), Nobunaga Shimazaki (Yuki Soma), and Makoto Furukawa (Hatsuharu Soma) will be holding a special meet and greet session for an autograph board at Otakon 2019! This is a ticket-only event courtesy of Funimation.
