*Taps the mic* Check Check… AND WE’RE BACK!

After a year off, Hiro’s is back and happy to see all of you lovely dancers again!

We have a lot going on this year, so let's dive right in and cover what's new.

This year our doors are open on Saturday only, but don’t fret because we have a full day of lessons and music! From 11am to 6pm, we will be open for all ages. During this time we will be offering 2 basic East Coast Swing lessons, a level 2 class for those of you that have been taking lessons with us for a while now, a class on the Shim Sham, and have some open floor time for you to practice your sweet new moves. To top it off, we will have a live band for all ages and dance levels from 4pm to 6pm.

Starting at 6pm, the room will become 18+ and the bar will be open.  We will have a Charleston lesson from 7pm-8pm followed by a basic East Coast Swing lesson from 8pm-9pm. The second live band starts at 9pm and will go until 1am.

We will be announcing our bands soon so keep your eyes peeled on social media and be sure to show them some love.

So, welcome back to Hiro’s and let’s dance the day AND night away! We missed you terribly and we’re glad to be back.

The Big Time

The Big Time.jpgPhoto by Devon Rowland

Beginning in 2015, Cecilia Ferneborg sought to bring together some of her favorite musicians to create an experience for dancers meshing small group swing with big band sensibilities. So The Big Time was born and together the group has logged thousands of miles on the road bringing music to lindy and blues dancers across the United States. Members of The Big Time are some of the most sought after musicians in the dance scene and can be seen playing with bandleaders such as Michael Gamble, Joshua Fialkoff, and Jonathan Stout. Their debut album, “Anna Cecilia & The Big Time LIVE” (2016), was recorded in front of a live audience and perfectly captures the energy of being on the dance floor in front of the band. The Big Time brings excitement and sensuality through jazz standards, reimagined popular songs, blues arrangements, and original music causing an infectious atmosphere for dancing!

The Big Time has played for numerous dance events and Lindy and Blues exchanges, including CHEX (Charleston, SC), DCLX (Washington DC), Red Hot Blues & BBQ (Washington DC), and SwingAus (Lancaster, PA). As a side-person, Cecilia has played for dance exchanges in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Orlando, Huntsville, Boston and more. When she's not on the road leading the Big Time, Cecilia also writes and performs pop, jazz, and folk music under her own name: Cecilia Ferneborg.
