Otakon's official statement regarding safety at the Convention
Otakorp puts a firm emphasis on the safety of our members. In addition to our Paid Security team, we also will have on and off duty Metropolitan Police officers in and around the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. We maintain constant dialogue with Destination DC to remain up to date on any safety concerns and how they are being handled.

The safety of our visitors is our top priority. Between the local and federal government, Washington, DC is uniquely situated as one of the best trained first response communities in the country. Destination DC also works closely with the Mayor of the District of Columbia, the Metropolitan Police Department and other local and federal government agencies to understand and communicate safety messages on behalf of the tourism community.
