Otakon 2008 Panels Information
Hello from the Otakon 2008 Panels Department!
We’ve improved many of our policies and procedures this year – keep reading to learn how to become an Otakon 2008 panelist!
- First off, for this year, things are a little more structured as far as applying goes. The application is more detailed, and as part of the process, Otakon panels staff may ask for detailed summaries of your panel. This is to ensure that the 2008 panels are the best that they can be.
- We’ve also changed how panelist compensation is handled. The new system is designed to make sure that every panel at Otakon is the best that it can be, and to encourage not only veteran panelists but also novices. Otakon is by fans, for fans.
Here’s how it breaks down:
- Previous successful Otakon panelists are considered moderators, and are entitled to compensated memberships.
- Panelists who have presented at other conventions successfully are entitled to post-convention refunds. These panelists, upon approval of their panel, are encouraged to pre-register.
- First-time panelist who successfully present a panel are entitled to a post-convention refund. These panelists, upon approval of their panel, are encouraged to pre-register.
- If you still feel that you’d like to present a panel at Otakon 2008, keep reading. (You’re almost there, we promise). This bit is the fine print.
Anyone who submits an application to present a panel at Otakon 2008 agrees to abide by the following policies:
- Otakon Panels staff and the Otakon Programming Section Chief, Otakon Vice Con Chair, and Otakon Con Chair reserve the right to deny any panel application for any reason, including but not limited to potential draw of proposed content or proposed subject matter.
- Panelist agrees to present only content applied for initially and to abide by all Otakon and Otakorp, Inc. policies and procedures.
- If presented content deviates from that proposed, Otakon panels or programming staff, the Otakon Vice Con Chair, and/or the Otakon Con Chair reserve the right to cancel the panel.
- Panelists who do not appear for their scheduled timeslot forfeit their refund and/or compensation.
- We’d love to be able to accept every panel submission that we receive, but unfortunately time and space restrictions prevent us from doing so.
- The deadline for submitting your panel proposal is 11:59PM, June 1, 2008. No exceptions. Late submissions will not be accepted or considered.
By clicking on the link below, you agree to abide by these policies if your panel is approved for Otakon 2008.
Take me to the 2008 Otakon panels application!
